Day 2

Some current stats from my 23andme account:

my matches=808
my maternal half sister S's matches=591
my maternal grandfather's matches=714

my account has:
447 Basic shares
23 Extended shares

my 23andme spreadsheet has 246 entries
my maternal half sisters S's spreadsheet has 16 entries
my maternal grandfather's spreadsheet has 27 entries

A bit more on how the spreadsheets work:

For each person who is sharing, if they match none of us then they go into my spreadsheet
If they match my half sister ONLY they go into my spreadsheet and then into hers
If they match my grandfather ONLY they go into my spreadsheet and then his.

The spreadsheet has their name, and which chromosome they match and the start and end of the segment. Also notes on their URL of their family tree, and other things useful like that.
My spreadsheet has a column to indicate if they match my grandfather or half sister.

The idea is that when I get my other two half siblings tested, they will get their own spreadsheets and I can quickly see which ones to check against then on my sister and grandfathers.

I have a large number of shares as some people share multiple profiles, and I want to keep even the ones who the people I have tested dont match, because as I get more people tested I can check them for matches. My spreadsheets arent completed yet, which is why they have less entries than I have shares.

In theory:

If a match matches me and my maternal half sister and not our maternal grandfather then the match is thru our maternal grandmother.

If a match matches me and NOT my maternal half sister or grandfather the match may be thru my fathers side or thru my maternal grandmother.

If a match matches my maternal half sister and NOT me or my maternal grandfather the match may be thru our maternal grandmother or her father.

So far I have no paper matches with DNA matches. I *thought* I did but they were thru my maternal grandfather who turns out to NOT match them *EEKS*
