Sharing Memories - Kindergarten Days

This post is my response to the challenge to share a weekly memory posted at Olive Tree Genealogy.

When I started Kindergarten, I was living in the townhouses at Rockwood, in St. Catharines.  The school I started kindergarten in was Applewood (interestingly this was my oldest two daughters kindergarten school as well).  I was 4 years old.  I already knew how to read, add, subtract etc.  Generally, I walked to school, altho I recall that sometimes on rainy or stormy days I would take a taxi to the school, which I would pay for with coins in a little purse of mine that my mother would give me.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the above photo was my kindergarten school picture.

Usually I walked to school with friends.  I think my teachers name was Mrs Brick.  I remember the room had play centers set up including a pretend kitchen.

During the year I moved, and then attended kindergarten at Edith Cavell.  I think my teachers name there was Mrs Hannah.  I walked to school every day and the kindergarten class had their own door.  I remember calling the teacher Mrs Brick by accident a few times.

At the time I was known as Kristina Foster.  My report cards are probably around here somewhere...maybe even a class photo.

I remember that walking to Edith Cavell took me over a bridge that was over train tracks, and sometimes we would stand on the bridge and count train cars.  I remember at Edith Cavell being friends with Beth, Ryan, Jimmy, and I think those were all from kindergarten.
