Waiting, and waiting....

After all the waiting and waiting for the 1921 Canadian Census images to be released, I am now waiting again, this time for the 1921 Canada Census Index at Ancestry.com to be completed.

Everyday, I check the newly added databases list at Ancestry.com.  And everyday, the 1921 Canada Census Index isn't there.  It is promised for before the end of the year.....and its nearing the end of October so my wait should be over soon....right???  I was hoping they would release it province by province as completed, rather than waiting to release the whole thing at once.  They did release the 1940 US census that way, so I had reason to be hopeful....

I could, of course, browse the images, which are available for each person I'm especially interested in, but I really don't have time to do that.  I will have thousands if not tens of thousands of people to locate in the 1921 Canada census.

I'm hoping the 1921 Census will shed more light into the family of Ernest Hewitt.  Since they most likely lived in Toronto, I am certainly not devoting the time to a line by line search!

I just asked Legacy (the desktop program I use for genealogy) to make me a list of potential individuals for the 1921 Canada Census, and it indicated 12, 764 individuals.  This number is far from accurate, as I recently tried to download my ancestry.com tree by gedcom into my Legacy tree, and I'm not done the merging process yet.  I'll probably post on that subject soon...
