Peverelle/Peverelli in the 1940 US census

As many of my readers will know, I am a Peverelle//Peverelli descendant, and I try to link all Peverelle/Peverelli people around the world into our family tree.

Since the 1940 census index is now complete at Ancestry.com I decided to see what I could find.

There are only SIX Peverelles in the US 1940 census as indexed at Ancestry.com.

The family of 5 of Joseph and Elizabeth Peverelle and one Henry Peverelle.

Henry Peverelle is listed as living in California, but born in New York.  There was a family story that William Henry Peverelle went to Ontario, California and wasnt heard from again.  I have never been able to find trace of him.

Exploring further, I find a WWII draft registration for Henry William Peverelle, listing Harnell, New York as his birth place.  His birthdate is listed as Nov 7, 1896.  The birth record I have for William Henry Peverelle is in Ontario, Canada and the birthdate is Nov 8, 1895....

Harnell, New York may be Hornell, New York, because a William H Peverell can be found in nearby Rochester, NY in the 1930 census.  He is living with a wife, Helen, and daughter Margaret and Jean.  There is a possibility the record should read William H DEVERELL.

Apparently it *should* read Deverelle, because the same family can be found in 1940 on the same street.

Darn it!  So where was this Henry William Peverelle in 1930?

Who is the James Meyers listed as the person who will always know his address in the WWII registration??

Is this  Henry William the same as "my" William Henry?? To be continued....
